Thank you all for the lovely comments! It really wasn't all that hard. I had borrowed a special tool that made the "V" cuts. The thing that took the longest was making all of the melon balls. As you can tell from the pics, my rims and hubcaps fell apart by the time we got up to Seattle. Here are the instructions I used:
