I made my first flash movie/thing and I am going to advertise it here for a while...

I have been really busy at work this week and it's looking pretty promising that we will have work at least until June...not positive, but looking good! I haven't been doing much thinking outside of work..

I have been looking everywhere for one of those ice cube trays that has the wee tiny holes for small cubes. They were popular when I was little, but if I remember correctly the cubes were really hard to get out. I saw these Fresh Sugarbath cubes awhile back and thought that I could make some bath bombs using the small ice cube trays as a mold. I finally found the trays, but I am out of the citric acid.

I am also looking for a chocolate box mold. To make a box comprised of chocolate. I have been doing some searching, and I have found some molds for chocolate boxes, but they are usually in the shape of a teddy bear or some sappy thing like that. I just want a box...plain old box...

I was surfing the Anthropologie site and I came across Days of the Week embroidered hand towels. I can't link that page because it's beyond my rudimentary web skills to do so. (Home Accents-->page 9 of 11.) Super J's mom made some for me the first Christmas we were dating and my mom made some that very year for my birthday. It was the year of The Flour Sack Towel. Guess how much Anthropologie is selling them for? 78$! Yikes! I was thinking of coming up with my own designs to embroider on a set, but as usual..I can't think of anything. I also really like the Heart Felt Ornaments (Home accents-->page 8 of 11) It makes me want to sew little frogs and pigs and dress them in little clothes. I would post the pictures of these items, but after reading today's entry (very funny) from squibnocket's site,...I am scared to do so.

I have been seriously thinking about going back to school to finish the degree. I have done very well for myself without one, thank you very much, but the weight of not having one and the fact that most graphic design-type jobs require one is getting too heavy for me to bare. *SIGH* It's just that I really, really hate college. And now it's turned into this "thing" with bad feelings and dread attached to it.

I got my new issue of Martha Stewart Living in the mail today. I love getting magazines...especially that one. It's the February issue and it's chock full of great ideas that I really loved. She has an article on quilling. I used to quill when I was little. Had the special quilling needle and paper and everything. This is what I love about Martha's magazine..the quilling that is featured in the magazine is so pretty and inspiring. It makes me want to quill again.

I found RuPaul's weblog through squibnocket's weblog..and they are both my new favorite.

I have proclaimed that we are going to have the artery clogging Blue cheese stuffed Filet with Bacon Mashed Potatoes again this sunday for Sex and the City viewing. Sparking wine consumption may also comense.

You want to see my flash movie? Okay...go here. You need Flash 4 player. I need to make a whole new section now that I finally finished a flash piece...Special thanks to Carl Prescott for helping me.

This link is from Loobylu...Aaron Jasinski's art is so amazing.. I love it.

I have been trying to eat better lately and I have been cooking a lot of things out of the Moosewood cookbook I mentioned earlier. Last night J made dinner, and HOLY COW. It was the yummiest dinner I have had a in a long time. It's a heart attack waiting to happen, and if you don't eat meat you probably won't like it. It was blue cheese stuffed fliet mingon with bacon mashed potatoes. It's an Emeril recipe. It was so good...I almost convinced J to make it again tonight. It was seriously that yummy...I could have eaten it again today. Instead we are having vegetarian dumplings in a garlic broth...much healthier.

Yesterday, there was an eight hour SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS MARATHON!! SCORE!!

Take a look a these bath powders from eZiba. Pretty cool, I think. They seem like they would be pretty simple to make. Either buy some fine sea salt, or whip out the coffee grinder. I am wondering how they get those wonderful colors, though. Can you imagine all of the cool packaging ideas? I think that I am leaning toward a bottle. I also like this puzzle a whole lot. Makes me want to buy a jigsaw.

OH! I got my first issue of Nobody's Fool: Food Notes and Stories this weekend! Yay! It's awesome and you should all buy a subscription.

WOW! I am having a family reunion through my guestbook! It's so great to hear from all of you!! It has made me think of all the great times we had when we were growing up, and it's so sad that we are scattered so far apart from each other. I miss you all SO MUCH!

Oh man..I didn't do anything at all this weekend. I rented Moulin Rouge...it was interesting. I LOVE the visuals..it's a gorgeous movie, but I am having problems with the modern songs being used in a movie set in 1900,...but that's just me.

I am planning to make a whole bunch of meals this week from "The Moosewood Restaurant Low-Fat Favorites". Molly Katzen writes great cookbooks. If anyone has a recipe for a hot and sour soup, like the kind you get in Chinese restaurants, let me know. I have found a few on-line, but they have meat in them and the one I am looking for doesn't. I tried to drink green tea this morning when I got up, but I was weak and made a mocha instead.

I would like to talke this opportunity to give a couple of "shout-outs" to the great people that have been helping with my big word project. I am getting great words.

Also, Miss Mary Beth told me about this product, which is temporary tattoos that you can print from your computer!! How awesome is that?

And then there is this awesome book Ksea provided the link for. Mud Pies and Other Recipes. What a great idea for a book. Thanks for the link!

Well...as I mentioned in my post yesterday, there is a big chance that our mulitmedia department will get laid off sometime next month. There is a glimmer that it won't happen, but you know how those things go...If I do get laid off I have to find a computer since the ones I have were provided by my work. I think that it's a great excuse to get the new iMac, eh?

Majestic Mountain Sage has a fragrance oil that I am thinking is like Demeter's Dirt. I may be a complete freak, but I have always loved the smell of dirt..real dirt. I made mud pies like a pie makin' mad woman when I was little. I even had an apron that had a recipe for mud pies on it. I loved it...it had ingredients like "2 cups fine dirt" and "1 cup small pebbles"...it was cool. Anyway..I have been racking my brain trying to think of a bath product I could make with that Earth fragrance. I was thinking like a mud bath or something...you know, the whole dirt-mud thing. I was also thinking about something I saw in a magazine once. It was little mud bricks that you added water to and put on your head, like a hair mask. I don't know...still thinking about that one.

I am also trying to decided if I want to go to Las Vegas or San Francisco for my birthday. I am thinking Vegas. It's closer and less time consuming. I want to do SF when I have more time. That, and J wants to see the wine angels at that restaurant (I can't remember the name and I don't feel like looking for it...Aureo or something) in the Mandalay Bay Hotel. However...I just got news that I might get laid off next month so we may end up going nowhere. Blah.

Well, went to Torrey Pines on Saturday and I did not see whales or dolphins. It was beautiful there, and I about died from hiking all of the trails. It was really hot and I was wearing black.

What else...I crocheted a case for my cell phone. I don't really like it, but that's okay, it was fun to make.

I finished a new illustration, or a least I am close to finishing. It is from a book called "If You're Afraid of the Dark, Remember the Night Rainbow." by Cooper Edens. I am re-drawing the illustrations for my portfolio (this one and this one) and hopefully someday I will have the whole book done.

I got the new issue of Mary Engelbreight this weekend and there is a section on the artist J. Otto. It shows his studio. It's pretty cool....he seems like a cool dude. He draws and his wife writes the words. Sounds like a good set-up. It also makes me REALLY want to get a wacom tablet.

January 11, 2001

I made all sorts of bath product type stuff for Christmas gifts..take a look at the labels. Hopefully I will have a picture of them in their packages. (ahem....) The point being, the other night, my poor J was reduced to using Dawn dish soap as bubble bath since I gave everything I made away. Yesterday I made him his very own Bubbly Milk Bath, jasmine scented. What kind of cool label/packaging did I make? None...it's in a ziploc. One step at a time..

Tomorrow we are getting up at the crack o' dawn to go to Torrey Pines State Reserve. Hopefully we will see whales and dolphins!

Here is a helpful hint: Do not pick your nose after cutting a habanero pepper.

I am still crocheting like a fiend,..I haven't really made anything. I crochet, rip out. Crochet, rip out. It goes like that for most of the day. I really admire people who, whether they are crocheting, or knitting or whatever, decide they want to make something, get the right materials, and make it. I have just been learning new stiches, hoping that I will have an epiphany and decided to a make something grand. The book I have is one that I stole from my mom. It's a 1970's "The Needleworker's Constant Companion" It's pretty cool actually, since it runs the gamet of things one can do with thread. There is a pattern for a crocheted shawl that looks like one I saw in a fashion magazine. It's this hip beautiful fashionable chick wearing a summer dress and stilletos attending a wedding in Cuba. I am wearing dirty sweats and a 5 year old shirt that has fraying edges and holes. I think the shawl with be a perfect match.

I am once again a victorious eBay-aholic. I won the Eva Zeisel gravy boat. It is glorious. My parents have been trolling eBay buying Eva Zeisel pottery for my Christmas gifts. They were watching the gravy boat and were undecided about whether or not they were going to bid on it. They forgot about it and my mom asked my dad to see how much it ended up going for. My mom just called and relayed this story to me when she saw that I won.

Isn't it wonderful? I love Eva Zeisel.

I just watched Martha, and she has these two hip gals on there showing her how to make painted canvas floor cloths. They were VERY cool....I want to make one for my patio now. One of the coolest tips they had was using auto detailing tools to make stripes. They are groovy little pen type things that you can fill with any color of paint, and it has a rolling wheel that distributes the paint in a perfect line. The wheels are replaceable so you can get a different thickness of stripe. Must. Find.This.Tool.

Ooh..and here is the lovely ladies' site. Yikes...take a gander at their prices and tell me you can't do it yourself.

Let us discuss the glory of Ready Made. I apparently signed up to receive the first issue of this mag a while ago and completely forgot about it, because there it was...in my mailbox. There is a huge discussion about this magazine over in the Glitter boards at Get Crafty. My new friend by Spoonbug association, Rachael, also mentioned the magazine in my guestbook (yay) which you all should sign. I always knew that friends of Spoonbug were too cool. This brings up a totally unrelated etiquette question...is it proper to email those who sign your guestbook, thanking them for signing it? Anyway. Ready Made kicks major booty. There are many cool craft projects and funny articles so please support a fledgeling magazine and buy an issue.

Speaking of dying magazines...Bust is back! Yay! Yay! Yay!

Did you see the "bonus season" of Sex and the City? They filmed these episodes last year in preparation of the actors strike, which never happened, so we have these extra six episodes to watch now for our viewing pleasure. I pretty much know what is going to happen, because I read "Watch with Wanda" on E!online, and she gives little tidbits of what is going to happen. I am not going to spoil anyone else's suprise, but let me just say this: I hate Carrie Bradshaw. Okay not, really...but damn...

I crocheted a little this weekend...I didn't make anything, but I have a book that has a jillion crochet stitches in it and sometimes it is good to just crochet, with no end in site.

I haven't been drawing anything at all lately. Well, I guess if you count Christmas, but I am not really in the mood. I know that I am storing up juice for something major, it's just waiting unitl it comes out.

Saw LOTR again on Sat..took Supa J with me, it was great great great....there was a horrible man that was talking and making smart ass remarks the whole time, so that was sort of a drag, but J told him to shut up and he did. My hero.

January 4, 2002

I have been using my crock pot every day this week. Last night I made the yummiest soup ever! Chicken Tomato Tortilla Soup. I am having some right now with a wedge of lime and a dollop of sour cream. Heaven. I would really suggest getting a crock pot. They are magic, and you can make so many wonderful things other than pot roasts. How about country style pork ribs, cooked all day long, smothered in yummy BBQ sauce. (I think I just found my Sunday "New Season of Sex and the City" celebration dinner.) I'm telling you...for you pork fans out there..and you know who you are...crock pot + pork ribs = magic

New Years Resolution: Update my site more frequently with scintillating and inspiring content.

File under "Help!":

I need big words. Whenever you guys run across a word you have to look up, please pass it on to me. I am currently working on a top secret project and I need big words. I ran across this one in VOGUE last night: solipsism. I have no idea what it means, since I have not looked it up yet.

I have been making beaded fringe like a mad woman. It's pretty easy once you get a rhythm going.

What else...I am getting bored with my current web haunts. I need some new ones please.
