One
of my all time favorite movies is The
Big Lebowski. I don't know why I love it so much, I
just do. I have always wanted to throw a "Big Lebowski"
DVD viewing party and serve White Russians and Sarsaparilla.
Below are some items from Plum
Party that I think would make pretty great favors.
Aren't
they cute? Little bowling candles. Here
is a Big Lebowski random quote generator via Bonnie

I
was in a shop recently, and in that shop were these stuffed
creatures that I LOVE! Scary
Stories Inc.
I
love these little creatures. Here
is a little story on how they got started.

One
thing I love about Thursdays is Ted Casablanca's The
Awful Truth. I am a sucker for celebrity gossip.
Like
just about every other person this week, I rented Amelie.
I need to buy the DVD, but somehow my brain thinks that
since the DVD player is broken, I cannot buy the DVD yet.
Why torture myself? I am going to sit and pine for it until
I decide I to spend the cash on a new machine.
When
I was watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone the
other day...I was struck by some items that were in a cart
in front of one of the shops of that secret shopping street
he was on.

Little
ghoul heads in a bucket. They made me think that they were
used for a witches dried flower arrangement, you know, like
dried pods or something. I was thinking that they would
be fun to make around Halloween. You could make the heads
using balloons, and insert a twig in the bottom as the stem....I
just might have to do this and I have 3 months to procrastinate
about it!

I
found out through a link on Glitter that the "wet transfer"
sheets I have been looking for are called Lazertan.
They are very expensive and require a color copier. On that
same glitter
thread, someone also suggested
using artists acrylic medium to get the same effect. Intriguing.
I
am so very happy that the new season of Sex and the City
started on Sunday.....I love TV. Also excited about the
new Austin Powers movie...I cannot WAIT! and since I am
talking about things TV related..I saw the Harry Potter
movie this weekend and I am surprised to say that I really
liked it. I am almost considering reading the books.
My
ten year high school reunion is next weekend, and unfortunately
I will be unable to attend. I am a little bummed, but it's
just not in the cards. Strange to think that much time has
passed...it feels like another life.

I'm
sorry...I am going to start this entry off with a rant about
Hotmail. I pretty much hate it. I have a Hotmail address
which I never use, because I started to get SO MUCH spam.
My "block sender" list is full. I set my new security
measure to put almost everything in my junkmail folder,
and I get SO much junkmail that if I don't empty the folder
everyday, I get a message from the Hotmail people telling
me that I need to spend $19.99 to upgrade my account to
accommodate all the junk emails I get. Stupid Hotmail.
Some
friends of mine are going to design and build their own
house using software from Punch!
I think
that is the coolest thing ever...I would love to design
my own house. I know exactly what I want and I have a whole
folder of magazine clippings to remind me....just waiting
for the day.
Sara
wrote to tell me about her wonderful idea for using watermelon
in popsicles:
"The
other day I had an excess of watermelon so after cubing
it, and freezing slightly, I put the it in the blender and
poured the mixture into molds. The pops were terrific and
I didn't have to add any sugar!! "
I looooove
watermelon. I am going to have to break down and buy some
molds.

So
Julie, (who totally
rocks, by the way) wrote to me to say that she a a proud
owner of the Martha Ice
Pop Molds. She has the classic kind, not the "tower
pops". She also was kind enough to share her favorite
recipe which I am going to post here, because it sounds
so wonderful:
Julie's
favorite popsicle is:
-combine equal amounts of water and sugar in a saucepan,
heat until sugar is dissolved. Add a few tablespoons lime
juice and/or grated ginger. Stir and heat a bit more.
-cut up 3 or 4 mangoes, put in blender. -strain sugar mixture
if you used ginger.
-blend mangoes and enough of the sugar mixture to make a
pretty thick smoothie, pour into popsicle molds, freeze.
(you can always refrigerate any leftover sugar syrup for
next time)
Yum!
Yum,
indeed. For some reason, it reminds me of my favorite summer
drink. It's from Peet's
Coffee and Tea and it's the Jasmine Lime Cooler. If
you are fortunate enough to live near a Peet's, get your
butt down there and try it. When we lived in Santa Cruz,
Super J was friends with one of the gals that worked there
and she told me how to make it. I have since forgotten the
measurements, much to my dismay. However, I know that they
used 2 bottles of the Odwalla
Summertime Lime (another favorite of mine) and 1 bottle
of the Odwalla Lemonade. The base for this drink is Peet's
Jasmine Fancy Green Tea. It's soooo good. Some people
may not like it since it's a really "flowery"
green tea. That is what I like about it actually, ..I have
had some green tea that tastes like steeped lawn clippings.
Barf. Anyway, I cannot remember how much tea I was suppose
to make..so that is the dilemma. And since I am having a
hard time finding Odwalla where I am, I am thinking that
I will use whatever Limeade and Lemonade I can find. Once
I perfect everything I will post the results.

I
love the Ice
Pop Molds from Martha by Mail...it makes me
want to freeze fruit juice and koolaid.
A
few weeks ago on Glitter, someone posted about Jell-o
Pudding Pops. Remember those? I used to love them
so much. I had completely forgotten about them until
I stumble upon that thread.
Here is the recipe from that thread:
GENERIC
PUDDING POPS: A Recipe
1 (4 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
2 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup canned evaporated milk
Combine pudding and milk in a large mixer bowl.
Beat for two minutes. Stir in sugar and canned milk.
Pour into popsicle molds and freeze.

I
want to know how one would make a plastic figurine. Via
Dollarshort.org,
there is a group of people that are selling plastic "inaction"
figures. Little toys. Very cool and I want to know how to
do it. Resin you think? I
have searched the internet, and I have found how to make
figurines out of sculpey and twigs, but nothing about plastic.
I
am really excited that next Sunday is the season premiere
of Sex and the City. In honor of this occasion, I will be
wearing my brand new special Carrie Bradshaw toe socks I
bought this weekend. Last week, (or was it the week before)
we watched a rerun of Sex and the City where all of the
gals were in Carrie's apartment having drinks, and Carrie
was wearing these crazy rainbow knee high socks
that had the toes separated into their own compartments.
Pretty snazzy.

I
love the coloring
contests over at Dollarshort.org
I always start them, but I get really impatient about 10-15
mins into it and give up.
This
has been a really uneventful week, sorry to say. Not much
going on and my brain has been occupied with things like
chopping audio and Star Trek: Voyager. I missed the first
half of this show when it was on and I never saw how Seven
of Nine joined the crew....I tried to explain to Super J
how exciting it was to finally see how it all came together
and he humored me quite nicely. "I'm happy for you."
was his response. Yes, I am a nerd.

Bored?
This site
has the cutest games on it. I love them. Link via Glitter
The
UPS man delivered my new cookbook yesterday, Recipes
from a Kitchen Garden. I am in love with it. There is
a recipe for a strawberry-melon crisp that sounds SO good.
You use either cookie or graham cracker crumbs as the topping
(with various other "crisp-like" ingredients.)
I think a bowl of really good vanilla ice cream would go
great with it.

The
past two nights, I have burned the heck out of myself while
cooking dinner. Once on my forearm, and last night, steam
from green beans got my thumb. I am currently blistered
on both places, the thumb being the worst. It's so puffy
and gross....I cannot stop staring at it and cannot stop
forcing J to stare at it as well.
I
missed the first half of Oprah
yesterday, and I was really bummed when I turned it on to
see that I missed half of The Crocodile Hunter. I love,
love, love Steve and Terri Irwin. You should check out the
video clips from the show...their
little girl is the cutest little thing I have ever seen.

Did
everybody have a good 4th? I sure did. It was pretty uneventful,
though. In fact..it was while trying to figure what the
heck the upstairs neighbors were doing when I realized that
the *boom...boom* I kept hearing was fireworks going off,
and not the upstairs neighbors jumping up and down trying
to piss me off. I was planning on gettting a whole lot of
work done this weekend, but I didn't do any of it.
I
did find a purse I think my dad should make me for Christmas.
I think I found it on Purple
Skirt...but I can't remember: (Dad,..I have a larger
picture if you need one for reference. he he he)

I
am sort of having an uneventful week. Doing lots of work....work,
eat and TV. And sleep.
I
am getting very close to launching the new site design,
but then I remember that I still have several different
pages left to do and it makes me want to sit on the couch
and watch Oprah.
I
ordered some deodorant
from Bigelow Chemists.
I would love to see this store in person. They carry all
of the fancy hip brands one reads about in magazines. They
also have a good selection of essential
oils, a little pricey though. I wonder what the quality
is like.
