Texas was okay. I worked a lot. I did get to eat some VERY yummy Texas BBQ. And it was hot. Lordy. I have not experienced humidity like that before.
I have been working furiously on a new re-design, it seems to be in the air...I am not really adding anything special, just a shop page. I am also working on a Halloween themed project I am hoping to make available to download. I have been busy making prototypes and I think it's going to be cool. Please bear with me...just a few more days! September 13, 2004
I am off to Texas today and I SO DO NOT want to go. I keep telling myself "it's only for a week...it's only for a week" but I am getting close to telling myself to "shove it and shut-up already." I tend to lean towards hermit-ism. Is that a word? So the idea of driving up to the airport and flying to Texas and then renting a car and driving in a strange city to the hotel ALL BY MYSELF is filling me with a lot anxiety.
The most effective salve for any sort of angst and unrest is to spend money! Yay! I feel better already. I bought this rolling tower/cart thingy from Crate and Barrel yesterday. I had been eyeing it for a while because I really need to get my office in some sort of order. Most of my craft supplies and paper are in piles on the floor because I don't have any storage to speak of. I would really like a beautiful creative space that I actually enjoy spending time in. A trip to IKEA and a new computer couldn't hurt either.
Many thanks to Anna for the FABU-LOUSO link to Manto Fev. They have a wide variety of postage stamp sheets (has anyone tried to run these through a printer?) and oh my lord....metal leather stamps. There are a lot of fabulous things to find.
I keep seeing these amazing leather bags in some of the magazines I get. I am not so sure they are my stlye, but I really admire the craftsmanship that goes into making them. They are Bracher and Emden bags. I especially like the Enchant bags with the leather butterfly. I also really like their leather flowers on the Luna range. Gorgeous.
Somehow I stumble across this website, Limited Edition, and I love it! They have the coolest things. I don't know what I would do with half of it, but it's the sort of thing I want to hoard, because, you know, you'll never know when you will need a couple of pages of Thai or Hungarian type. I ordered these blank postage sheets because I HAD to have them. Their Ephemera pages are loaded with great things.
I bought an Interweave Knits issue this weekend that was devoted to crochet! In that magazine there is a feature on these GORGEOUS hand carved hooks and needle cases from Nepal. They are so beautiful.
September 2, 2004
I can't believe it's September already! I am very ready for turtlnecks and sweaters.
I mentioned the other day that I bought and issue of Country Home. In that issue was a picture of some cookies:
I bought the magazine because I wanted to know how they made those wonderful faces! Turns out they used edible rice paper and edible markers. I wish my printer was able to use the edible print ink cartidges....that would be super cool. I have been trying to think about how I was going to decorate my Chirstmas cookies this year and I think this edible rice paper is going to be involved. I bought an elf cookie cutter last year and I think the rice paper would be a great way to make the faces.
